Notre-Dame de Paris

Reference : FR1500-YB004502

Wide shots of Île de la Cité, close-ups of Notre-Dame Cathedral towers, façade, rose window and transept. Zoom in, zoom out.
Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture, is the most visited monument in France. Located in the historic center of Paris at the tip of Île de la Cité, construction began in the Middle Ages, starting in the 13th century and completed in the 15th century. Heavily damaged during the French Revolution, the cathedral underwent restoration in the 19th century under architect Viollet-le-Duc. Numerous visitors admire the stained glass and rose windows, towers, spire and gargoyles. They can also discover the Notre-Dame Treasury and attempt to climb the towers for panoramic views of Paris. In 2013, Notre-Dame celebrates its 850th anniversary. For this jubilee, many events are organized and the cathedral renews its bell collection with the arrival of eight new bells and a new bourdon. French road distances are calculated from point zero, located on the cathedral's forecourt.

Due to their exceptional nature, images of Paris are subject to special distribution terms.
