Lo Mantang, fortified city in the mountains

Description

Flight over the plateau and approach of Lo Mantang city. Lo Mantang is the capital of the Mustang kingdom, north-east of Nepal.Closed during a long time to foreigners, it opened its borders in 1992 but its access remains difficult. Situated 5 walking hours from China, at 3840m of altitude, it has a medieval look surrounded by walls. It contains around 120 houses, three monasteries, a royal palace. The 500 to 600 inhabitants speak mainly Tibetan and deal with north of Tibet and southern Nepal.
