Description
An extraordinary scene on the frozen Yenisei River near Dudinka. Local fishermen remain on the ice as the massive nuclear-powered icebreaker Vaygach passes only a few meters away, opening a shipping channel. A cargo vessel follows through the newly cleared passage. The striking contrast in scale between the fishermen, the huge ship and the frozen landscape creates rare and spectacular images of everyday life in Arctic Siberia.
