Roquelaure village and Castle

Description

The village is situated on a rocky height near the site of an Iron-Age oppidum and Gallo Roman villa. The castle dating at least from the XIth century was the Bessuéjouls-Roquelaure families residence. It was sold by the Estate during the French Revolution. Abandoned, falling apart in the years 1950, it has been from 1966 restored by its actual owner and is classified as a historical monument for its norman chapel.
